Privacy with plain-language boundaries

Your information should support learning—not become a mystery.

This policy explains how Baostad handles personal information when you use our public pages, create an account, join a learning relationship, or use a professional or institutional workspace.

Effective date: July 3, 2026

The short version

1. Who this policy covers

This policy applies to Baostad’s websites, account services, directories, learning workspaces, and related support. A school, institution, teacher, or consultant may also have its own privacy responsibilities and notice for information it controls independently.

2. Information we collect

The information depends on your role and how you use Baostad.

  • Account and identity information, such as name, email, verification status, role, and authentication records
  • Profile information, professional credentials, institution details, interests, biography, and public profile content
  • Learning and relationship information, including courses, sessions, goals, milestones, grants, assignments, feedback, and affiliations
  • Communications and support information you send through messages, forms, reports, or support requests
  • Booking, subscription, and transaction records; payment credentials may be handled by a payment provider rather than stored by Baostad
  • Technical and security information such as IP address, browser, device, timestamps, cookies, logs, and suspected misuse signals

3. How we use information

We use personal information to operate and improve the service, perform requested agreements, protect members, and meet legal responsibilities.

  • Create accounts, verify identity, authenticate sessions, and recover access
  • Provide profiles, discovery, courses, scheduling, communication, progress tools, and role-specific workspaces
  • Process subscriptions, bookings, support, and operational notices
  • Prevent fraud, investigate reports, enforce access controls, and protect the platform
  • Understand service reliability and improve features using proportionate analytics
  • Comply with legal duties and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims

4. Legal grounds where applicable

Depending on your location and the activity, processing may rely on performance of a contract, legitimate interests, compliance with law, protection of vital interests, or consent. When we rely on consent, you may withdraw it, though prior lawful processing is not undone.

5. When information is shared

We disclose only what is reasonably relevant to the service, relationship, or legal need involved.

  • With teachers, consultants, learners, parents, or institutions participating in an approved relationship or requested service
  • With infrastructure, email, security, analytics, support, and payment providers acting under appropriate terms
  • With authorities or other parties when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect safety, investigate abuse, or defend rights
  • As part of a merger, financing, restructuring, or transfer, subject to appropriate confidentiality and notice requirements

6. Public profiles and member content

Information you place in a public profile or public institution page can be viewed and copied by others. Protected workspace information is intended for authorized participants. Do not publish sensitive information that is unnecessary for discovery or collaboration.

7. Children and younger learners

Baostad may support younger learners, but age, consent, and guardian requirements vary by location. Where parental or institutional authorization is legally required, the service should be used only after that authorization is obtained. Guardians and institutions should provide only information necessary for the learning purpose. Contact us if you believe a child’s information was collected without required authorization.

8. Retention

We retain information only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described, including account operation, learning records, security, dispute resolution, contractual commitments, and legal obligations. Retention periods vary by data type and relationship. Information may remain in restricted backups for a limited period after deletion.

9. Security

We use organizational and technical safeguards intended to reduce unauthorized access, alteration, loss, or disclosure. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Protect your credentials, use only authorized accounts, and notify us promptly of suspected compromise.

10. International processing

Baostad and its providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we use recognized safeguards for international transfers and assess the protections applicable to the transfer.

11. Your choices and rights

Depending on applicable law, you may request information about processing and ask to access, correct, delete, restrict, or export personal information, or object to certain uses. You may also withdraw consent and complain to a competent data-protection authority. Some requests can be limited where retention or processing is required by law, safety, another person’s rights, or legal claims. We may verify your identity before acting.

12. Cookies and session technology

Baostad uses cookies and similar technology for essential functions such as authentication, security, language-aware experiences, and service operation. If optional analytics or marketing technology is introduced, notices and choices will be provided where required.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service, providers, or legal requirements change. We will update the effective date and provide additional notice when a change materially affects how personal information is handled.
